The Politics of Dancing on Mon 11/4/19

Welcome Back to me! Beyond delighted to be back on the air again after an almost 10 year gap. My life and world around has become so complicated in the past few years and I think the new show, Politics of Dancing will reverberate with the melodies of a time long past, nights in dark, smoky, clubs, lit with laser light and smelling of bodies sweating and fake fog. Watching the dis on the decks become the curators of sound during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Dance culture surely has morphed into something totally different with Djs today being more like pop stars playing records and charting their tracks on the Billboard charts, rather than an underground subculture. Let me take you back to that place again if only for 2 hours. Let me help make Mondays just a bit better. Thank you for listening.

Dj Roo started at WKDU in 1995 while studying Photography at Drexel. She was a regular until 2008, when she took a leave of absence to get married and raise her family. She spun the morning drive for years and is inspired by dance music greats like BT, Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Dave Seamen, Nick Warren and Hybrid. Weekly sets are a knitting together of dance music classics, extensive back catalog of b-sides of underground beats and new tunes from today, proving that great music never gets old. Relive the club nights of the 1990s and 2000's. Check out her instagram- @DJROOGIRL
