Future X Sounds

I had the pleasure of going to the Future X Sounds concert at World Cafe Live on October 4th. With acts like Lalah Hathway and Talib Kweli headlining the series in Los Angeles and New York, the Philadelphia concert was headlined by James Poyser of the Roots, who had a jam session with some of the best musicians in Philadelphia such as George “Spanky Mccurdy, Mononeon and Jaleel Shaw.

The first performance was by Killiam Shakespeare, an eclectic music collective led by Stevie Mckie and Corey Bernard, who performed two musical pieces full of thought and suspense. The songs were in different keys, pitches and always ended on a high note.

In between performances, Cosmo Bake, who is a world renowned Dj, performed a DJ set of songs that got the crowd jumping and moving. From old hip hop classics to fresh sounding tracks, his DJ set let the crowd breathe in between performances.

The second performance was &More, the duo consisting of Chill Moody, the music ambassador of the city of Philadelphia and Donn T. Their performance was high energy and crowd engaging. They performed most of their hit songs, including a new song towards the end of their set. It was also Donn T’s birthday so a birthday cake came out in celebration for her.

The last performance was the Jam session with James Poyser and crew, which really got the crowd going. Global Village was a sponsor of the event, so some of the attendees of the Global Village performed during the set.
