Bandname is a trio of artist-musicians hailing from North Philadelphia inspired by comic books and professional wrestling. With garage and punk rock underpinnings supporting catchy pop-esque melodies, Bandname creates a sound that is a little rough-around-the-edges, yet addictively fun to listen to. Bandname’s music encompasses the garage-y charm of bands such as Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Sonic Youth, the pop sensibilities of Elvis Costello, and even a Devo-like quirkiness at times. After touring extensively throughout the East Coast and Midwest with their 2008 demo Insert Hear, being featured on 75:24, a cassette compilation that also includes songs from bands such as Algernon Cadwallader, Dangerous Ponies, and Hop Along Queen Ansleis, and having a cas-single released on UK label Eat A Book Records, Bandname debuts their first full-length record titled Breakfast on Saturday, November 20 at El Bar. Chock full of skuzzy riffage, bouncy vocals, and explosive percussion, Bandname’s Breakfast is sure to satisfy the appetites of punk and garage pop lovers everywhere. Breakfast will be released on vinyl on North Carolina record label Self-Aware, as well as on CD by Soft City Records, and on cassette tape by UK label Eat A Book Records.
