Gruff Rhys is the lead singer of Welsh band The Super Furry Animals. Since 2005, he has embarked on a fruitful solo career that has most recently resulted in his 2011 album Hotel Shampoo. Said Rhys of the album "I thought that as I'm getting on a bit, the time had come to buy a suit and record an album of piano ballads.
