FOR THE RECORD!
A Benefit Show for WOAR (Philadelphia’s Center Against Sexual Violence)
For The Record! is part of a weeklong series of events at Drexel University titled “The Teal Chronicles” with the goal to facilitate conversation, share resources, and empower survivors of sexual violence.
For the Record! is a one-night-only benefit concert dedicated to raising awareness and funds for WOAR, Philadelphia’s Center Against Sexual Violence, as a part of The Teal Chronicles series. The event is produced by Drexel Flux, a student-run organization dedicated to hosting live shows around campus and promoting local talent. Flux hopes to bring WOAR’s mission to the Drexel student body in an engaging and educational way, focusing on raising awareness about sexual violence prevention, creating a space to share resources, and enabling students to easily contribute funds to an organization doing extremely valuable work in the City of Philadelphia.
For the Record! will take place on Friday, April 22nd at World Cafe Live. Doors will open at 7:30pm, and featured performers include Karlia, Highnoon, and Rubber.
Sexual violence on college campuses has been a topic of national concern for years, but last spring after allegations against a Drexel student were publicly made, the conversation became very personal for those on campus. Discussions regarding the Drexel community, their approach
toward allegations of misconduct, and how the community as a whole could be improved were started and students began to look for ways they could create a safer, more empowering environment for their peers. Out of these discussions came the idea for a week-long programming series on campus, which became The Teal Chronicles. Close to one year later, the event is now set to take place from April 18th-22nd.
