SOS -Compilation Mix for India Covid Relief!

With the catastrophic second wave of COVID-19, INDIA is in crisis. There is an acute shortage of oxygen tanks, ventilators & beds - with even the biggest hospitals sending out SOS requests for help. As of 26th April 2021, there were over 17 million cases - over 300,000 reported in a single day. Our healthcare infrastructure is crippled - the system is broken! It’s now up to each of us to do our bit and help.
As artists sitting at home, perhaps the best help we can offer is via our music.

This compilation is our effort to raise funds for the Hemkunt Foundation, an NGO doing on-ground COVID-19 relief work and supplying oxygen to critical patients. We are deeply grateful for their fearless service to our communities.

Flashpoint!

New Hybrid release due out FRIDAY!
Will be playing a back to back mix set of Hybrid remixes today in the second half of the program! Looking forward to the new release and interview with them coming up!

Jody Wisternoff on the guest mix.... The Gift you gave... indeed!

So excited to share this fun throw back mix from Jody Wisternoff of Way Out West acclaim. Years ago hundreds of his mixes, along with Hybrid, Nick Warren, and many others were on their site, HYBRIDIZED.ORG. Though the site is not working in the way it used to, you are able to still go and listen to some amazing live sets from some of the best djs and producers of the late 90s and early 2000s.

Way Out West's self titled first Album was one of the first records i purchased and it is a highlight of my collection. Their song The Gift was the crossover that made it on to MTV as well as a commercial or two back in the day. It still holds up as a club anthem.

FRAMEWERK DID MY GUEST MIX!

Framewerk on the guest mix! Wow! So in the spring when we all went into Covid lockdown, one of my heroes, John Digweed, started spinning these near weekly sets on Facebook live and now Mixcloud on Saturdays 4pm EST. It was through these sets that i began to discover new producers and new music at a rate that i was discovering them when i first started doing in 1995. In short I fell in love again and hard! One of the productions duos that i fell hard for was Framewerk, who i realized through intensive sleuthing, had been a thing since 2013.

Ten of my Favorite Things!

It’s a new year and I have been thinking about all the things that have given me JOY. In times like these it’s an act of defiance to be JOYFUL abs to find things that give you slivers of light in the dark. Some of you may know that I am a practicing artist and photographer. This fall , now that my two boys are big enough to be in school full days, I was planning on going to start graduate school at Moore College in Philadelphia. Was planning on starting my Masters in Fine Arts. However COVID caused me to put it on the backburner for another year. But what’s another year anyway? I was working at the Barnes Foundation as a school group guide. But that too disappeared as mUseums and cultural institutions closed and discontinued tours.

Dawn- Bronson feat:Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

There is truly no song that I have heard during the early lockdown period of COVID that made me ache. A song that when you hear it, your heart just knows that this song is this moment in history... in time. The video that i am linking you to here tells the story of the lockdown time, all over the world from emptiness and isolation to togetherness and joy.... we will DANCE AGAIN! Also please donate to the International Medical Corps Coronavirus Relief. The link for that is also in the video. Covid will soon be history but we will never forget how this past year has changed us forever!

A beautiful day is coming... it is right around the corner. wear a mask......get the vaccine when you can.... continue to wash your hands and stay safe!

Thanks for tuning in as always...
