What I’ve watched:
Gleaming the Cube (1989) - christian slater, YOUNG tony hawk absolutely bonkers premise but impressed with how they kept the plot together. Skateboarding, gun smuggling, justice for murdered adopted brother - all in 80’s L.A.
Motel (1989) - Filmmaker Christian Blackwood studies three motels in New Mexico, Arizona and Death Valley. Documenting the wild tales of the people who own/work/frequently stay at motels in the 1980s.
Wildwood, NJ (1994) - nostalgia for the shore and the gold-chained nona’s crisped to perfection. The women of New Jersey blow you away through the rest. Never did I see myself being enlightened by the 50-year-old boardwalk candy store clerk describing the etymology of ‘Wildwood’ and how we take it now to be “WILD” yet its origin was “WOOD” - powerful, natural, mystical.
