The Politics of Dancing on Tue 2/9/21

Welcome to another Tuesday. Mentioned The Tim Bergling Foundation today after I played that Avicii track, Levels. The Foundation was created by the family of the Swedish DJ Tim Bergling, known as Avicii, to "honour his memory and continue to act in his spirit". Avicii committed suicide in 2018 after a long battle with mental health issues. The foundation was originally set up to tackle mental health awareness and suicide prevention in order to help prevent other families from experiencing similar events; however, was later expanded to work on climate change, protection of endangered species, business management, and nature conservation.
In these time of Covid living and social distancing there are so many of us in need. Check on all your friends, especially the strong ones. We all are seeking love and connection during these difficult times.
Nesx Week --- Special guest mix by Framewerk. Here's a link to preview some of their work.
Based in the UK, Framewerk (aka Darren James and Alec Milliner) are influenced by the encompassing sounds of electronica: from progressive to breaks to chill out. If you love Hybrid.... and are waiting for their new album like I am ... these guys are making really beautiful modern breaks! Enjoy!

Dj Roo started at WKDU in 1995 while studying Photography at Drexel. She was a regular until 2008, when she took a leave of absence to get married and raise her family. She spun the morning drive for years and is inspired by dance music greats like BT, Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Dave Seamen, Nick Warren and Hybrid. Weekly sets are a knitting together of dance music classics, extensive back catalog of b-sides of underground beats and new tunes from today, proving that great music never gets old.
