The Politics of Dancing on Tue 3/9/21

So excited to share this fun throw back mix from Jody Wisternoff of Way Out West acclaim. Years ago hundreds of his mixes, along with Hybrid, Nick Warren, and many others were on their site, HYBRIDIZED.ORG. Though the site is not working in the way it used to, you are able to still go and listen to some amazing live sets from some of the best djs and producers of the late 90s and early 2000s. If you can figure out how to download them, have at it!
Way Out West's self titled first Album was one of the first records i purchased and it is a highlight of my collection. Their song The Gift was the crossover that made it on to MTV as well as a commercial or two back in the day. It still holds up as a club anthem.
Both Nick Warren and Jody Wisternoff have inspired me so much over the years that i thought that today would be a great day to share the music with you. Jody's newest album, NightWhisper, is a beauty!
Also it is worth mentioning that John Digweed's Quattro II is OUT! Its pretty amazing, with the 4xLP being available as well as Cd and of course download. As those of you who know the host, i am a long time fan of John's and credit his Bunker Session, Saturdays on MIXCLOUD at 4pm EST, for bringing me back home to dance music. This Saturday celebrates or rather marks a year of lockdown and the 40th episode of his now iconic Bunker Sessions and it is sure to be one for the ages!
Hybrid has a new single on the way.... follow them on Instagram to get the first sounds.... soon! And of course an interview with me on WKDU in the months ahead, along with producer Robert Babcisz and many other coming up. I am very excited about the year head and the spring that is on the way.
I will be fully vaccinated in May and will be back to doing show LIVE on air at the station in PHILADELPHIA! So you can call to pester me there. I appreciate how patient you all have been while I am working on making these mixes from home.

Dj Roo started at WKDU in 1995 while studying Photography at Drexel. She was a regular until 2008, when she took a leave of absence to get married and raise her family. She spun the morning drive for years and is inspired by dance music greats like BT, Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Dave Seamen, Nick Warren and Hybrid. Weekly sets are a knitting together of dance music classics, extensive back catalog of b-sides of underground beats and new tunes from today, proving that great music never gets old.
