The Politics of Dancing on Tue 3/16/21

1 year ago i did my last show on WKDU for a long while due to COVID, now back 8 weeks or so , I am delighted to continue to bring you great classics as well as some really amazing new work by artists new and old. You all know i am loving on Framewerk, who have promised to get mea copy of their newest and as yet unreleased mix of Apollo 440s, Liquid Cool. That track was featured on the epic Northern Exposure album by Sasha and Digweed. It is hard to believe that that album is almost 25 years old and the tracks hold up and are aseptic as ever. If you are new to the show and are looking for some downloadable albums, this is a great place to start. Its sort of like progressive trance sprang from them and this album in particular. Their solo careers are massive as well and I look forward to seeing them both in Brooklyn at the Mirage at the ned of JULY!
I think we have all missed what it feels like to be bathed in the throb of a club again. There is something primal abut it, sweating, pulsing, wildness. The energy of music, that thumping baseline... fueled by drugs or alcohol, or just plain joy is something that i think i certainly took for granted all those years in those spaces as a member of the audience. Now as I am older and those experiences of weightlessness and long nights; free of my children and my adult life, i wait for the time again to be in the that space with others.. a womb of a sort.

Soon enough my friends.
SO ....HYBRID's new release is due out this week!!!! As soon as I get a copy i will play it and i will link the track to my BLOG!
I am looking forward to interviewing them in the coming weeks... so if you have questions that you would love to ask them please email me so i can begin to formulate the interview.... Which is becoming such a delicious research project of over 20 years of tracks , remixes and albums.
Follow them at HYBRDBANDUK and get the latest.
Worth a listen also is Quattro 2, John Digweed's newest album release.. a 4 cd journey that is sure to make you ache to be back in the club again!
Looking forward to hearing from you and what you think of the show.

Dj Roo started at WKDU in 1995 while studying Photography at Drexel. She was a regular until 2008, when she took a leave of absence to get married and raise her family. She spun the morning drive for years and is inspired by dance music greats like BT, Sasha, John Digweed, Danny Howells, Dave Seamen, Nick Warren and Hybrid. Weekly sets are a knitting together of dance music classics, extensive back catalog of b-sides of underground beats and new tunes from today, proving that great music never gets old. Relive the club nights of the 1990s and 2000's. Check out her instagram- @DJROOGIRL
